16683/P0299/000665 - Boost Pressure Regulation: Control Range Not Reached?

Featured Replies

I have this fault code on my f/l Octavia VRS TDI, 16683/P0299/000665 - Boost Pressure Regulation: Control Range Not Reached?, with the flashing glow plug and exhaust control lights, and also in limp mode.  Have been to Halfrauds with my warranty who cleared the fault codes and after a short road test said there is no fault.  I argued that that there is but to no avail, drove away from them, and all the lights and limp mode came back!

I've now been to Skoda who have put it on their diagnostic machine and confirmed the same fault code.  However, they were too busy to do the work and I have to take it back in next week to sort the problem.  According to them, the fault "is not common" and will need a process of elimination to repair.  With the initial diagnostic check and the first one again next week, they have quoted me a £150 bill for starters.

Has anybody had the same symptoms repaired by Skoda, and what was the final cost of repairs please?

Thanks

Kev

The cost of diagnosis varys between technicians, it all depends which direction they take. They may find the fault straight away or it may be the last thing they test.

You are having a turbo boost problem so could be anything from a split hose to new turbo and everything else in between.

I would book it in to JKM who are a well respected Independent VAG specialist if I was you. http://www.jkm.org.uk/

Used them to look after my old A3 and they get plenty of good feedback.

They are a site sponsor - give them a ring and have a chat I'm sure Jim and Kate will be able to resolve that for you.

Sticky Turbo vanes normally give you an over boost code, I'd plumb for a boost leak issue.

Well, Skoda have now confirmed that my N75 valve and turbo actuator need replacing.  The diagnosis alone is £149, and the 2 replacement parts fitted will be somewhere around another £450.  Deep joy....... Not !!!!
