is a power washer too powerfull for a car?

Featured Replies

Would using a cartcher power washer damage the paint on a car? Seen people using them on there car but if there that powerfull to remove years of grime off my flags I'm scared it would damage my car?

Good old, garden hose and a couple of buckets of water and a couple wash mits for me! I don't trust 'em! (Power washers that is).

No it shouldn't. Have a look over on detailing world for the range and uses of them. I've got a Nilfisk and it's not damaged mine.

Been using one for over 10 years and not had a problem

Nilfisk here, small one, is fine.

The only attachement I'd be a little wary about using is the 'dirt blaster' one, a regular lance or Vario lance are perfectly fine. Just don't get really close and stand with the lance pointing directly onto the panel, but there is no reason why you would anyway.

Never ever had any problem at all with any Kew, Karcher or Nilfisk ....in over 20 years of use

An absolute essential to wash your car as completely and scratch free as possible

I wouldn't use a powerful one at very close range.

I,m sure I read somewhere about paint being removed.

As said I have powerful washers and NEVER had a problem

Suppose garage car washes are pretty powerfull and they wouldn't be able to use them if they caused damage would they?

I've had a kew, now nilfisk for about 15 years now without any problems. I have 4 different nozzels with mine and one (which has a wider, softer spray) is specifically for use on car paintwork. If your concerned dont get the nozzel too close to the paintwork, holding it further away deminises its power
