I liked the Yeti so much I bought two ! / Kenwood DNX521DAB

Featured Replies

OK well perhaps not so dramatic but:

12m ago we replaced my wife's Ford Focus with a Yeti Urban 1.2  - I liked the look of the Yeti and managed to persuade the other half to view and test drive one, even though she had declared her intent on having another Focus (boring). She was sold as soon as she took to the wheel - I had reservations re the engine size which I thought was too "weedy" for a car that size. I soon changed my mind once it was my turn to drive and the turbo kicked in !

Fast forward to present - I have had company cars for the past 30 years, my last one being a 2 litre diesel Insignia Tourer - nice car on the motorway but engine very "lumpy" about town and suffered from turbo lag and heavy "inert" steering. Being due to retire and having being so impressed there was only one car to consider - the Yeti. I have now bought another 1.2SE - 12m old with only 5,000 miles and can honestly say this is the best all round car I have had the pleasure to drive. To sum up what I consider to be the Advantages and Disadvantages :

Likes:

Quirky Styling

Driving position / Ride Height / Comfy well supportive seats

Roominess (for the relatively compact size of the car)

Responsive and well weighted steering

Zippy Engine

Economical to run ( 2nd car - insurance only £195), 40+mpg

Well Equipped

Reasonably Priced

Dislikes:

Mmm' - Oh yes "weedy" lights - especially DRL's (intend changing all lights to  "Night Vision" / LED's

PS I don't work for or have any connections with Skoda - honest !!

Briskoda - great site - already done some modifications after getting ideas from the forums :

Added sunglasses holder, sound insulation under bonnet and under parcel shelf net.

Changed Bolero to Kenwood DNX521DAB. Might upgrade speakers and add reversing camera - plenty of time on my hands now!

The Kenwood is an excellent piece of kit and doesn't look "aftermarket". Bought mine off Ebay - just one slight problem in that it shows a VW splash screen on start up! Any instructions on how to change this would be appreciated !!

Cheers

Christopher

Hi, Christopher :hi: and welcome!

I've spent three or four days recently in and around Huddersfield and didn't see a single SM.  You must have corrected things a bit!

Hi There, Anything special you had to do for the under parcel shelf net?

I've a net pack (3 different sizes) and I cant figure out a neat way of suspending it under the parcel shelf

The standard net pack doesn't include the under-parcel shelf net.

Standard set is:

one small "pocket type for the side

one long "pocket" type across the width

one plain for the boot floor.

I changed the boot screen on mine to a high resolution Skoda logo. I forget the steps off hand but I'll remind myself and let you know and send you the image. It looks perfect - totally OEM. Actually a lot better quality than the default vw one.

Some of us did... if you don't include Mum's and my cousin's one too. :giggle:
