I may sound a little silly but here we go...

I'm a little curious as to something.

Basically I've been involved with motorsports in some form or another for a number of years now, I started off at age 15 building Grasstrack cars for a motor project I used to work for and did that for quite a while and I've spent the last 2 years as a race marshal...But I've never competed!

Since I've bought my little Favorit and have started doing all sorts of bits to it I've decided that now's the time to get involved. So from next year I will be using my car to do sprints and hill climbs.

Now what is it I'm stuck on...Licensing? Nope. Regulations? Nope. Racing techniques and etiquette? Nope...I'm stuck on numbers.

My question is how do sprint cars and hill climb cars get their race numbers? Are you allocated a number at the beginning of the season or do you make your own number up?

Race numbers are normally allocated by the championship organiser if you're registering for a championship, or by the meeting organister if you're doing a single meeting.

If you want to register for 2 or more championships, try and enter early because most club level organisers will try and accomodate requests for a specific number, for example if you wanted to enter as 27 as a tribute to Gilles Villeneuve.
