Car color code conversion

Featured Replies

How can I convert certain color code from manufacturer coding to let's say HEX or HTML or RGB? It doesn't really matter which one because I only want to see that color on the computer screen. I want to know if it's possible so I can compare different colors from different manufacturers. For instance I want to see the difference between Skoda's Topaz Brown (LF8Z) and Kia's Matrix Brown (J5N). I know it's not the same as comparing in real world but I want to see the difference in digital form.

Anybody?

Think you would really struggle to do this - I don't even think the manufacturer's would necessarily know the RGB or HEX of their paint colours.

Also viewing the colour on a computer screen is going to be completely different to viewing it in real life. In an ideal world, you'd get both cars in their relative colours next to each other but that isn't going to be possible.

However something like: http://encycolorpedia.com/ might help. Haven't got a clue how it works but looks like it returns some data against a relative colour?

Cant be done too many variables your display may display a completely different colour to another display as they arn't calibrated. also a flat image can't recreate hue and saturation etc reflections all change the colour, so the suroundings of the car are just as important as the pigment itself to determining the perceived colour to your eye. This is why even the best renders in 3d design software still look artificial and the colours never match the photo.
