7 Seat Yeti?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've convinced swmbo that it might be coming to the time to chop in the current set of wheels (10 plate Octy SE).

We've discussed getting a 7 seater due to family commitments, however presently Skoda don't do a 7 seat option in any of their cars.

I've heard and seen various things about possibly a 7 seat Yeti some time in the next year or two (called a Snowman or Grand Yeti?) - anway, does anyone know anything about the possibility of this as I'd love to stay with Skoda if possible.

Thanks.

Steve.

There might possibly be something planned for the Asian/Chinese market, but I've seen nothing certain for the EU market in the next couple of years.

There is no 7 seat Yeti planned for Europe as Graham said.  There might be a seven seat, MQB platform based car bigger than the Yeti at some point.

If you want something now from the VAG stable I'd point you to the SEAT Alhambra.  Just don't expect much change from £30,000 for a decent one!  Eeck.

Also see this reply in another thread.

The Alhambra is a good suggestion if you have the money as Johann says. I had a 7 seat Touran for 3 years and it was a great car in many ways. Similar to the Yeti in that the seating can be removed. It is only slightly longer and wider yet has the extra 2 seats. Worth considering?

I've heard good things about both cars and have thought about them as alternatives. Nearly new alhambra's seem quite expensive compared to the touran equivalent and brand new seem pricey - I always thought seat were a cheaper option??

How are both cars for access to the 3rd row of seats?

Theres about 5-5.5k currently off the Alhambras via brokers and to be honest, even at 30k for a fully loaded SE LUX I think they offer a lot of flexible vehicle for the money. :)

The Alhambra is in a different class to the Touran hence the price gap. I wouldnt want to be stuck in the sixth or seventh seat of a Touran for a journey tbh and theres no real boot space in it once the rearmost seats are being used. Seat are cheaper than the equivalent ie the Alhambra is cheaper than the VW Sharan - its competitor. Alhambra and SHaran are great for rear seat access due to clever 2nd row seat mechanisms. :)

Thanks for this, so it isn't a "fair" comparison between Alhambra and Touran, maybe Touran and say a Ford S-Max?  Alhambra with Sharan and maybe a Ford Galaxy?

Sorry to be off topic in the Yeti forum!

The Alhambra and the Sharan is one and the same thing - they are just badge engineered versions of the exact same car.  The Touran on the other hand is just a Golf on stilts - or something like Ford C-Max. You do get seven seat Tourans but the third row is VERY small. The Alhambra and Sharan are more in keeping size wise with the Ford S-Max - and all three are true 7 seaters.

Look at a Mazda 5.  Much better bet (and handling) than a Touran, but still not Alhambra size.

if small SUVs start to get 7 seat they slowly become mini Vans and that is something we don't want to happen to yeti!

Get a different car if you want to fit more people. Look what happen to Rav4 or CRV

Just get a LWB VW Caravelle. The ultimate people carrier with boot space. Only 5.1m long too so about same as superb estate.
