Two things / AKS Tuning & Turbo noise

Featured Replies

First thing, has anyone had any experiences of AKS tuning? So far not so good as they have not replied to my questions at least 4+ weeks ago.

Second thing, There appears to be a strange noise which only happens just before boost at 2k (Around the 1.6k and 1.8k mark) Which to me sounds like a rattle of metal on metal. Slightly concerned as this replacement turbo has only been on here for about a year now...

Alex at AKS gets good press on mk5 golf gti forum and is a sponsor there too, maybe ask on there?

I know he's not so good at replying, even when I wanted to buy from him.

I personally won't go anywhere else. I know he puts in the hours actually working and doesn't have anybody to answer his phones or reply to emails, I normally give him a ring if I need to know anything urgent.

j0hn beat me to it. I was going to say j0hn won't go anywhere else :giggle:

Hi Volf.

The noise you are experiencing is rattling of the turbo waste gate pipe.

Very common on the 2.0tsi engine, only happens in the rev ranges you described.

To 'solve' the problem a clip is fitted to hold the pipe in place. I had this done to my octavia, sometimes it now rattles, sometimes it doesn't.

Dealer should do it for you.

Hope this helps.

I've used AKS for a bunch of stuff on my car - fantastic knowledge, attention to detail and quality of work. I wouldn't use anyone else.

Due to the above though he's in demand, hence you're not going to get responses by return. Anything urgent just give him a ring.
