Quick question about my DEH-P77MP

Featured Replies

When I take the key out of the ignition the H/U switches off, what wires do I need to switch around so that I can turn on my H/U without having to use the keys (so I can listen to music whilst im cleaning it :D).

Thanks, Chris.

i think you need to take a spur from the permenant live to the acc. cable.

but that would mean you'd have to turn the stereo off manually every time.

thats not helped im sure but thought id share it all the same.

mine was just a straight plug in job. (DEH P4300RB) and that stays on until you take the key out.

by that i mean i can turn the ignition completley off but its not until the key is removed till it goes off.

yeah, just stick the key in the ignition, tis what i do

My Empeg works in a similar way to the Symphony. When you take the key out of the ignition, it goes to 'sleep'. Then tap a button to wake it up again. If you look here: http://www.packetradio.co.uk/Cars/octavia/radio.htm for the standard Skoda connector; check and make sure the 'Ignition Switch Contact (Pin 4)' and 'Battery Positive Supply (Pin 7)' are the right way around on your headunit. They normally need to be switched around which should then make everything behave.

Of course if you do need to switch them over, get a little extension lead and do it on that so you don't have to cut into the wiring in your car ;) But, you know that already...

I dont think the Pioneer unit has this feature unfortunately..

as mentioned above, you could take a spur from the permanent live, but then you could accidently flatten your battrey if you dont switch it off.

on pioneers web site, use the contact to email them and ask them, ive always found them very good with "technical" questions as ive had to chop and change the wiring for my head unit cos its been in and out off most of my cars.

thats a long sentance to say with one breath, just tried it and gone blue!!!
