Samsung Galaxy S3 can't switch on Bluetooth

Featured Replies

Here's one:

Yesterday my phone started playing up:

I could not switch on the Bluetooth -it says 'turning on Bluetooth' and then after a while goes back to off.

Tried switching airline mode on and off and power cycling phone -no joy.

Removed battery -started working again, but then after a few hours stopped again.

Next, did full factory reset -started working, but then after a few hours stopped again.

The only thing that seems to work consistently is removing the battery, but I'm not prepared to do this every time I want to get in to the car

The phone is a running absolutely stock and I haven't installed any new software or updates recently.

Android 4.1.2

Kernel 3.0.31 - 1314436

I've emailed Samsung as it's still under warranty.

Anyone else had this?

Update: Samsung want me to send my phone back to them for assessment/repair. What am I supposed to do in the meantime? I cannot be without a phone. The only thing I have lying around in a drawer is an old MDA compact IV -Remember Windows 6.1 anyone?

Ideally I'd want an Android phone so that I can keep up with my e-mails and contacts -might have to buy something cheap off eBay.

Cant help with that particular issue.

But, do the phones go back to the manufacturer these days other than the carrier? , or is your one PAYG?

My own S3 has an intermittent "camera failed" issue and I have been told by 3 to deal with Samsung directly.

Normal retail law says if it's within the first year you take it back to where you bought it, after that you take it up with the manufacturer. Most Samsung phones are guaranteed for two years. I bought my phone outright for cash when it was first available so well over a year old now, plus I ordered it through Carphone Warehouse who I really wouldn't want to trust for warranty work.

So I've sent my SIII back to Samsung and am now rocking a Nokia 113 (£14 from ASDA) while I wait for the SIII's return

Hope you backed it up, as they'll likely wipe it or send back another handset.

I wiped it myself before I sent it back to them. They specifically state that the phone is to be sent back without back cover or battery or memory cards etc.

My repair is authorised on the IMEI and serial numbers, I have a note of these so I will know if they send me back a different one. Mine is immaculate without a single mark on it, provided that it comes back the same or replaced with an equally pristine example I shall be happy.

The SIII came back today -no detail as to exactly what they did. All the information that it was returned with was a sheet showing that it had passed all their diagnostic tests after repair. It seems fine now so will have to see how it fares over time.

Consumer law on mobile phones is very different. The phone company will acknowledge 6 months only otherwise its back to the OEM. If you have their insurance then they are quite happy to deal with you. People like CPW and P4U will try and help otherwise it's back to the approved repair agent. UTL or A-Novo are the common UK repair agents (I have been to both).

To be fair, most phones are bought on contract though, so are essentially on HP for the duration and remain property of the provider until completion of the contract. In my case however, I buy my phones outright for cash and have a SIM only tariff so The phone is mine from day one, and in this case I have dealt with Samsung directly.

If you talk to Orange they are only responsible for the tariff and the sim card not the phone. when you buy your self out of a contract you don't pay anything on the phone just the remaining contracted months.

So you could buy a phone and contract today and buy it out tomorrow, you would only pay 24months x month fee as an example.
