Error message with cruise control symbol

My Octavia has started to be tempermental.

Drove it about 400 yards from cold on Thursday and it lost power and almost stalled.  An "ERR" message came up on dash with a cruise control symbol. Message then went and car drove as normal. Started it several times no problems

Did same thing yesterday-only went about 200 tards this time before it hiccuped and the "ERR" message came up again.

Funny because I've never used the cruise control on this car

Any suggestions please?
