Quick question regarding engines...

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is in the wrong section but I was unsure whether to put it in the RWD Skoda section or the Favorit section and vice-versa...

Question is this: I've heard of Estelle's that are running Favorit engines but never heard of a Favorit running the Estelle engine...Now I'm assuming that the Favorit engine must be fairly similar to the Estelle lump as so many have done it.

So does the Estelle lump fit in the bay of a Fav and is it a straight swap or is there modifications needed? Only asking because I have the chance of an Estelle high compression engine with Group A cam ready to slot in a car, now I want a bit more performance but have been quoted nearly £300 to have my cylinder head done this engine is ready to go straight in...Is it a simple thing to do?

No idea TBH, mate but you'd probably be better posting this in both the Felly section and the RWD sections :)

Cheers dude, will see if anyone else can shed some light :P

DaveRapid is your man on here, he's an expert on the rear engine stuff, he's been porting and polishing horses and carts since before the engine was invented.

I would say yes possible, but you would need to change the sump and oil pickup to the fwd favorit ones and the flywheel and clutch too. The gearbox bell housing is the same so that's a straight fit.... Like I said, ask daverapid.

 It will fit, pretty much as Tom says. The Favorit water pump will need swapping over too as it incorporates the engine mount. What fuel system would you be using?

Not too sure yet the engine in mine is standard so has the original Bosch mono-motronic SPI unit where as the Estelle engine has a Weber 40 DCOE carburettor on it but I've always wanted to go either twin 45's or bike carbs...

There are better engine swap options open to you. A 16v polo engine will drop in there really nicely. You don't Have to be scared of fuel injection it won't bite.
