ASKING PRICE REDUCED TO £4000 (ONO)

I'm selling my Octavia VRS 56 reg, 108,000 miles (Tax Jan 2014, MOT May 2014). I purchased the car through a classified ad on this forum, and have only owned for about 4 months. The car has quite an extensive history on here. I have listed all the work that has been done (by the previous owner) below, and there a loads of receipts available for pretty much everything that's been done. The cambelt was change at the correct interval (with receipts available). The car has never been remapped, although the suspension and exhaust have been upgraded (as well as other tasteful mods, see list below), and it has a very nice set of team dynamic motorsport alloy wheels. I have found the handling of the the car to be fantastic, and to be honest with a Skoda I didn't have high expectations in this department. When I took it in for the major service recently (see below) the Skoda engineer even commented that the suspension mods had been done in exactly the right way and the car sits very nicely. It's a pleasure to drive, and Miltek upgrade makes the exhaust note very satisfying without being overbearing.

I've used it for a few long trips and family holidays over the summer, including Scotland/Isle of Wight, so I've done almost 6000miles since I purchased the car. It's been absolutely solid and reliable during the time I've had it. Mechanically the car has had no issues at all. The only problem I had was the air con compressor broke down quite shortly after I purchased the car, which was unfortunate as this is very expensive to fix. When I looked up the problem it seems to be very common with these cars (and some other VAG cars). I had the compressor changed at substantial cost at a Skoda specialist local to me, with the official Skoda part (rather than a cheaper replica part from Ebay), and the air con has worked perfectly ever since. I'd consider this a plus point with the car as the compressor also has a 12 month warranty (due to it being the official part), so there's a bit of insurance there given this is quite a common issues.

The car was due for a major service at 107,000 miles, because I wanted to make sure everything was ok I had it done at the main dealer, Allams Skoda in Epsom. In addition to the normal major service items (which include spark plugs) I opted to have the brake fluid replaced as well. I've also recently had new brake pads front and back. So basically I've given it quite a bit of TLC!  ;)

The only reason for sale is that I needed a 4WD, and last week I got a Subaru Forester XT. I needed something I can drive off road and not worry about getting muddy, as I've started getting into mountain biking recently. Will miss the Skoda but I can't justify owning 2 cars, especially not in London! The mileage will not increase as day to day I'm only driving the Subaru now. Thanks for looking.

Suprised no one has commented on this!

Lovely looking example with tasteful mods!

I wish it was a year down the line when my mortgage has dropped, I'd be heading down the M4 to take your arm off!

GLWS, hope it goes to a good home.

Hi thanks for the messages! Yeah I totally get what you're saying and yes I was originally suspicious why it had so many owners as well, and I can see how it would appear bad that I'm selling it after only a few months. Obviously I would say this as I'm looking to sell but it has been absolutely solid mechanically, and drives very smooth like a new car. I'm pretty sure any mechanical issues would've "come out in the wash" by now really, because I've done a few very long journeys in it. Yes the air con broke down but I've mentioned that and the new air con compressor is still under warranty until June 2014 (actually I've spoken to a few Skoda owners recently who've had problems with air-con so it seems to be very common).

I went to Allams Skoda specifically because they seemed to get good reviews on various forums, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it either (plus as I say commented on how it had all the right mods done to it in their opinion). To be honest I'm not in a massive hurry to sell it, but it's really pointless me having two cars. I'll prob leave the ad up just on here for another week or so before going to Pistonheads/Ebay just to see what happens. The Subaru interior is already caked in mud just from a couple of mountain biking trips over the last few weeks and that's the kind of thing I'm doing regularly now. Was also helping a friend out with some building work on a farm last weekend for which the Subaru was ideal but there's no way I'd be doing any of these things in the Skoda!! So there is genuine reason for sale there, any other questions about the car feel free to ask cheers.

I guess another way to look at the number of owners thing is to consider if the car was a bad example for some reason, why would Trevor have bothered to invest so much time / money on the good work he did on the upgrades which were documented in detail on here as well? Plus the fact it's just gone through a major service at Allams with no issues at all with the car.

Hey no it's the petrol version sorry if that wasn't clear from the advert! If you're still interested we could arrange a time for you to view, let me know cheers.

I'm interested in the car, as I am considering to buy one. Is it a tdi? I can come this weekend to view the car.

Can you PM me your contact number?

Zeb

Yeah thanks it's just sitting outside my house ha ha coz I'm only driving the Subaru now! Possibly down to me being too lazy to listing on Pistonheads/Ebay so far, though thought it would be nice if it stayed within the forum so we'll see what happens when I list it tomorrow I guess...

And hopefully it may stay on the forum if anybody on here actually puts an offer in for the car! ;)

Wish I wasn't skint! Must stop looking at this, it's my perfect spec.

Best of luck selling, hope it stays on the forum.
