Already converted the boot to manual from its powered struts as they weren’t working, kindly supplied the kit to do so from previous owner.
Might try and get it working again in the future but I’ll see how much it bothers me

Yes as I love the factory elegance ones and ideally like it looking 100% oem externally, these are still winter wheels. The previous owner has also supplied them with the car and they have been power coated silver just need some tyres when I get some space and time.

Also did some vcds tweeks,

one to get large MPH on the mfd display and the second to enable led lights so hopefully won’t throw a bulb out warning for the front sidelights

So you did get this car in the end. Nice one Trev, join the S2 family.
Do you have the boot gadgets that sit in the side tracks ie 2 of those strappy things and 4 tethering blocks. Sorry for the terminology no idea what they call them. I had to buy my own boot split bar as mine never came with one, I see you have that in situ. The boot is so large stuff just ends up all over the place, without those straps for the odd bag I hang off the side hook.

Yep he had that in the side pocket too very handy little bits to have, also got a net too :)

I know the electric struts are off. Do you have that annoying bleep when you press the open button from inside?

Martin @Gizmo disabled mine, added close from internal button and enabled MPH large display, plus  extend the headlight wash interval at Cosford many years back.

Yes still have the beep for the minute, I did see options to untick electric boot so I’ll have another play at some paint when I get some time, currently parked up untill the Octavia sells then I can swap insurance over

Managed to get some time on her this morning, serviced with some Millers Oil and a genuine vw filter, also fitted a powerflex insert to dogbone, went for the diesel one so I don’t get too many extra vibrations.
Topped off with a racingline magnetic sump plug. All torqued to spec of course :)

Good job Trev.
Are you marking every thing you tighten with some kind of marker/paint?

If you reuse the sump plug does the washer have to be changed every time ?

Yes just a paint pen, it’s a requisite from my day job fixing Trains so just got into the habit of doing it, easy visual way of telling if somethings moved that shouldn’t have too.

Should really change washer most sell the plugs complete with washer attached or the racingline one comes with half a dozen washers so should see me out, you can also cut off the oem washer and fit a copper washer and reuse the plug, that’s what we used to do at VW before they realised they can sell a whole plug with each service instead of pennies for a washer.

Paint pen I gotcha, explains why you do it too.

I end up supplying a sump nut and washer every service those £5 odd all add up when you have done about 23 oil changes just on 1 car!

Noticed the haldex was not working, found a fault code stored with 0448 intermittent open circuit fault. Thought I’d check the state of the filter and strainer first as unfortunately not a lot of garages know they have a filter and strainer on the pump too.

The filter I don’t think had ever been off the outer plastic fought me the entire way off. The strainer on the pump wasn’t too bad.

With the pump removed, the resistance check showed it up as out of spec too low should be 5-8ohms and light tapping on the motor makes it go all over the shop so now new motor on order.

waiting to put the new filter in once the pumps here so I can prime it a little.

Also waiting for my diff oil to turn up.

amazing that the pump was still original
