The point of the visit was to see if the Amundsen+ unit had DAB fitted. I unticked the box "DAB inactive", when clicking on Do It the system told me "The Request was out of range".

Does the unit have DAB or not?

Columbus is not DAB. The fault code suggest that the fuse has blown for interior lights wich also affects rear lights.

Unit scanned wasn't a Columbus, it was an Amundsen+.

Columbus/RNS510 does have DAB  as an option. It's not cheap though (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-LATEST-2013-VW-RNS-510-LED-DAB-sat-nav-navigation-Golf-Passat-Tiguan-Polo-/271267989944?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems&hash=item3f28d509b8)

 

No "Light out" warning on the dash either.

It's just a thought and probably a wild goose chase...

It does sound like a blown bulb / fuse or damaged wire somewhere along the way.

Has the owner been doing any work on the vehicle recently? Any reason to have disconnected the battery or forgotten to replace everything before switching on the ignition?

I'll check the coding on mine a bit later on the Radio+Navigation front. IIRC all the Radio functions do seem to be under Navigation though (things like having 2nd FM aerial installed for example) and I do recall clicking on Radio tells me that the controller isn't installed.

 

 

The car has only been with the owners for a couple of weeks and I suspect that there is a certain amount of reluctance to take the DIY approach on any updates.
