octavia vrs cr 170 remap review v fabia remap

Featured Replies

As some of you might know through reading my other thread "I'm booked in" i got my octavia remapped at shark today. I have come from a fabia vrs remapped by Jabba to 179 bhp and 340 pound of torque. When I first got the standard octavia it felt nearly fast as my fabia but lacked the torque and also first gear was not great for getting off the lights quickly. My fabia was quite good at this (in the dry) and I really wanted this kind of feel back. When accelerating in my fabia you got a huge wack of torque which felt good but you did hit a wall and needed to change up early to keep it in the power.anyway onto the map. I have to do a few more runs to update this thread when it's dry, today's drive back from Mansfield was like a monsoon it was that wet. It dried off a little when I was getting closer to home. Anyway I'll start in first gear, a real improvement off the lights you don't seam to have to stick it in 2nd as quick which I like and you only need half throttle to gain speed very quickly. Accelerating from 30 to 50 in 3rd in my fabia took possibly 3.2 seconds using the very basic " one thousand and , ." Technique but once hitting 50 you where getting to the end of the power hence the need for a gear change, in my octavia now I would say it does it in a little bit less then the fabia, the difference being that you can hold onto the gear for longer, it just keeps pulling and pulling and soon takes you to licence loosing speeds. In the fabia it was like the car was saying to you "there you go there's your fun now change gear and slow down" where the Octavia now just keeps eggin you on sayin" go on hold it just a little longer" you get that pinned in your seat feeling like you got in the fabia without the "oh its all over with" feeling. Really does drive like a petrol. Was also getting early 50s mpg on the motorway and in the fabia I would get about 47mpg driving it in a similar manor. Did spin the wheels are few times when on the move and putting my foot down but it was very wet and it only happens a couple of times. I'll update this with more food for thought over the next few days of driving and hopefully get some dry days to really put it to the test. Defiantly makes the diesel cr the car it should be from the factory

I take it your enjoying the Octavia so far then?

Few pics from the day. My other half looking thrilled that the weather was too bad to go into Mansfield and that we had to sit in the waiting room for a couple of hours. 20131021_121938.jpg as the magic was happening 20131021_121829.jpg

Can you let us know what it's like for 3rd & 4th gear overtaking compared to stock when you have time (and its safe to try....) it's painful sitting on the do I don't I fence! Also what difference has it made to your insurance. Cheers

Like I said 3rd gear at around 30mph stick your foot down and your at 50ish in a heart beat! I would say 30 to 50 in 3rd 3 sec, ill try and get more accurate times for you when it's dry. Every gear has the same kind of urge if your not labouring it obviously. Even at 70 in 6th it will pull you out and around a slower moving car with ease. My insurance went up £90 quid

I had mine done in March & I know it makes the car complete with the right map on it of course.

Glad you are enjoying it. I had a wet journey home too & felt I couldn't fully appreciate it - had the yellow light flashing also :giggle:  . Well worth the money too. As for the Insurance mine went up £100 (with just the map added) but then I swopped mid term to Sky Ins. as i'd since added a Whiteline Anti Lift kit to the front & a W-Line RARB too. Then I contacted Sky Ins. who came in a staggering £30 over from what I was paying pre map.    I bit their hand off. Food for thought anyway. I had 10 yrs NCD so swopping mid term made no real difference to me.

Glad you like it.

I still haven't had a dry day to compare. I know 0 to 60 isn't the real measure of a car but can't wait to try it and compare it to my old fabia

how do you find the before and after the remap whats it pull like and has the mpg differed.  did u just have a map or a dpf delete aswell. what power and torque figures did u achieve

Read the full review mate above. Mpg really stayed the same. Kept the DPF. Not had it on the rollers yet. I'm trying to organise a group session on awesomes rollers if I can get at least 10 together

Still not managed to let it prove itself yet. Roads are still too wet, when I'm not at work that is. 1St gear is loads better then before, all I can say really its like having a petrol again. I'm finding I'm driving it more like petrol too because all the power is not at the bottom like in the fabia. I do miss that low down shove but I keep having to remind myself that that shove what just a sensation and not directly related to speed and that my octavia is indeed alot faster

Lol yeah! Do miss my fabia but this suits my needs more and now I have blistering performance back!

I miss my fabia too, and get you comments going from remapped fabia to stock octavia. But its so nice to have a car that's a bit more grown up and refined.

Nice review............very tempted!!
