L&K PD 130 Estate ride and handling

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Loving my Octavia... in a straight line. Our other car is an old Ford Focus which wipes the floor with the Skoda in all aspects of ride and handling. My Octavia is fine on fast motorways and A roads, but on anything less and in particular uneven road surfaces it is hopeless. It feels like it is bobbing around all the time, leans over too much for my liking around corners, and feels like it under-steers compared with the Focus. It also grounds out very easily on speed bumps etc., which I have to take very slowly indeed. I suppose it's possible that my dampers are tired, but I think they're ok.

Does this ring true with others? What have you guys done to improve? What is the easiest and cheapest way around this?

Cheers,

Dan

My VAG cars have all grounded out easily, but this is because they are very very low. The new Mondeon is low, but when measured the octavia is 2" lower. Anether thing that maked yo uthink its grounding is the engine covers dangle a bit if not correctly fitted or if they are broken. But the front bumper is very low and sticks out a long way infront of the front wheels which doesnt help.

My towbar catches on the ground too and on speedbumps without loads. So I would say yes the norm.

As for handling, my ambiente was fine. I used to throw it around and it took it all. My L&K is a bit more wallowy, but it could be shafted supension. Good tyres helped with grip a lot.
