Yeti order placed - just a word of thanks for all the help and advice

Featured Replies

Leading up to ordering my Yeti I pretty much went through all the colours using the brochure, the configurator and going round the forecourts (with a few sleepless nights), dismissing first the green then the various silvers (sorry folks) and settling on a white, black or red Yeti. Fortunately at that stage the option of a contrasting roof wasn't available or I could still be trying to decide on a colour combination. And then on the morning of the day I was going to order (probably a red one) I saw on another dealers' forecourt a metallic dark blue that looked really smart. Decision made, that was going to be the colour for me. Arrived at the dealer I was going to buy from (very competitive with internet prices and nice and handy if anything went wrong) the sales people were a bit busy so to kill a few minutes I had a wander round the forecourt and at the back was their newly arrived demonstrator - Regency Green with  Gobi Sand interior. You can guess what I ordered. And I'm very pleased with it -  it looks very smart and it doesn't show the dirt too badly (all good intentions of regular washing have quickly faded away).

The point of this is that I most definitely did not want a green car but to my mind green is one of those colours where slight changes in shade can make a big difference - after I ordered my car I saw a pre-loved Yeti in green and hated it so had to go back to the dealer to check mine wasn't coming in that colour!! The reproductions of the Jungle Green look very nice and I can understand the temptation but it is probably THE colour you need to see on a car to be absolutely sure. A blue that was a bit lighter or darker than I expected I could live with, but the "wrong" shade of green??

But whatever colour you buy I hope you get as much pleasure out of driving it as I do mine.

That sounds an excellent deal.  The upgrade to Amundsen+ shows as £535 and the Columbus at £1630.  I haven't really investigated either, due to the high cost, but £200 would tempt me.  Was that on top of a decent discount on the car?

We did not get much discount on the car just (the dealers line was they cold not offer big discounts with the 0% finance option) but did get the discount on the radio and a few other extras thrown in so about £900 off the extras

Thanks - I had a feeling that might be the case.  I don't think I'm going to be able to squeeze any more out of my dealer, but it's worth a try!

After getting a shade under 15% off the car/options, and the old price, I think the dealer thought he'd gone far enough to get a deal!

Dealer direct or Dealer via a broker?

I suspect no p/ex as well to get that type of discount (approx £3000 on a £20k Yeti) - makes you wonder how much profit there actually is in some cars.

I was quoted 14% from broker via a main dealer (and old at price), but no p/ex. But, if I wanted the 0% & free servicing Skoda finance offer, then just 5% discount and had to get the car from a dealer 200 miles away.

Trouble is, I had a p/ex and wanted to do the 0% PCP, so I went to my local dealer and only managed £400 over book price on my trade and £200 off some extras.

However, for someone paying the minimum deposit of 10% on a £20k Yeti 0% PCP, and the balance of £18k invested at 3% pa over 3 years could make you £1600 interest

So, in my own case, I had to balance the potential £3k discount via a broker, against the interest I (could) get (£1600),  extra trade in value (£400), extras (£200) and 3 years free servicing (£500?) - total £2700.....not far off the £3k discount.

Dealer direct, and you're right - no p/ex.  You're referring to Carfile, I'm guessing - they do get excellent reviews, and I've have been happy to go through them if I hadn't been able to get a decent deal.

To get 15% discount direct from A Skoda main dealer is amazing (without going through a broker). Would like to know who they are. And yes, Carfile was the broker I was referring to.
