RS6 sub

According to Parkers it's spot on, especially with tax and MOT and recent work done:

Wow they do hold their value?!

alot of car for the money though, I've been looking at these but thing I'm going to get an M3 instead

The car is a leviathan though. The price is corking value for something that looks straight and appears cared for- these cars require big money to keep them prime. I've been considering one for some time but would require reducing my collection from 5 to 2. And there's one in those four I can't face selling.

Just make sure the recall work has been done on the suspension, as they were prone to leaking. If the work has not been done by now you will be looking at over 1k to fix it as it's an adaptive system on the cars.

I would expect most of the original RS6s to be sub 10k now.  10 years old, say at best 50% depreciation every 3 years - 60k --> 30k @ 3 years ---> £15k @ 6 years ---> £7.5k @ 9 years?

Running costs are eye watering (as you'd kinda expect from a £70kish originally car).

I'd say for a twin turbo V8 it was pretty good value - LOADS better value than B5 RS4s which are still rare under £10k and those that are are on much higher miles than most sub 10k RS6s around.

Saloon is ugly as sin though - Avant is the way to go.

Suspension wise - I think the common 'fix' for the original suspension is to fit coilovers but they're not cheap for a 4WD A6 platform.

KW all round is the usual fix I think.  £1,500 roughly VS £1k per strut for the original setup.  (from a vague memory)

Don't bilstein do a whole adaptive kit for these things which is a lot less than the OEM?

Might be naive but would expect the engine to be bulletproof amd hence merely require an oil change every xK miles.

Surely suspension will have been sorted by now so what are the expensive running costs then?

Anybody know the maintenance schedule for these bad boys?

I know many many C5 RS 6 owners and they regularly speak of 3k bills. Gearbox is another big issue.

I believe they came bottom of the warranty direct reliability poll.

You need to be extremely passionate about it to own one, the guys I know have deep pockets hence they keep them going.

My advice would be to never buy a C5 RS 6.

Not quite the same but a mate used to have a B5 RS4 and I remember one of his services costing £2k. Ouch.

If they cost the same as a Corsa to run they wouldn't be so damn cheap to buy now!

My inner chav came out then, thought you meant an RS6 subwoofer costs £6000 haha
