Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo Tech Black

Featured Replies

Hi all,

New to the forums and currently looking for a new car to replace the Seat Ibiza we have had for two years (on a PCP deal). To be honest, its a nice car and is the SE Copa version, so lots of extras like Climate Control, folding mirrors, auto wipers and cruise control. We got a great deal on it, but its the old 1.4 engine and its a bit weak.

The main thing we need is something slightly bigger as we will soon have two little ones. We checked out the 5 door Ibiza and the Ibiza Estate, but the room in the back was poor.

Had a look at a Fabia Monte Carlo and the room in the back is much better and the Tech version seems like a decent car, with a seemingly much better engine (not driven it yet?) and a fair deal.

So, I have done some haggling around and have an offer of one at £10,990. Along with the they are offering a very decent trade in on the Ibiza, which will result in a deposit going in on the new 3 year PCP (including servicing). So, cost to change will be nil.

My main questions are, is the Fabia Tech (black) a good proposition? That's both value for money and an overall decent car.

Will it give us equity in the PCP after, say, 24-30 months so we can change at that point?

Is the above a good price, can we better it? Should we ask for any cheap extras to finish the deal? Does it already come with mats?

Are there DRL lights on the Fabia Tech?

Am I correct that it doesn't have auto lights/wipers and no cruise standard or folding mirrors? These are non essential, but the sort of thing you get used to! Its a shame it has the sat nav etc, but misses these.

Does the Sat Nav unit control the radio and other car features, or is it simply a separate sat nav?

Am I correct its in the £100 VED bracket?

Any other cars you can think of I should consider?

Any general thoughts of comments would be appreciated, or answer to any, or all, my questions :) Sorry for the long post!

What engine are you opting for? Im looking at them currently too. Trying to find a TDi 105 at the best deal available

What's the best price you have on the diesel? We don't really do the miles to justify one really.

Cheers. Another other bits I could try and get thrown in from the dealer? Will go for the mats and a tank of fuel.

Picked my first ever skoda up yesterday . We got the 105 tsi monte tech. Absolutely love it

Great. What did you have before? What sort of deal did you get on it?

We have always had fords last car was a first and last it was a vauxhall corsa. Not impressed

Fortunately I was able to buy this cash, so not sure about finance deals

Thanks. Bit cheeky I know, but did you get a discount? Anything thrown in to sweeten the deal?

Struggling to source a brand new diesel tech tbh let alone get a discount. Couple of pre reg delivery miles ranging from 11,495 - 12,495

Any ideas if Techs are coming with ESP or not? I have read a few conflicting reports.

Looks like ukbondys has got it look at his first pics on his thead left hand side steering wheel on dash. On  top of the rear window demist looks like esp on off button

I'm led to believe if they're built after the end of June then all Fabias come with ESP.

I got mine at the end of May so missed out on it.

Me to

The Fabia is now a VERY old car. It's still basically the old Fabia underneath whereas the Polo, A1 and Ibiza are all on the newer platform.

The Satnav is one of the highlights - it's a very good integrated unit unlike the TomTom thing that SEAT want to force you to get.

Definitely drive one in the dark. The headlamps are SHOCKING.

Personally, I'd go with the Ibiza again. Or a Polo.

The headlights are only shocking as they've been set too low from the factory.

It's a 5 minute job to adjust them yourself or the dealer will do it for you FOC.

Most have fitted Osrams or Bosch 90+ and they're now some of the best headlights I've had on a car.

As for the Ibiza being a better car, you're right that it's on the newer platform but I test drove a 1.2 TSI FR before I got my Monte and have to say that the Monte wins hands down in terms of quality, the Ibiza interior is rubbish.

The Polo is a great car but to get the same spec as the Monte you have to buy the Polo R line which is about £3000 more than a Monte Tech so for kit for the cash, the Fabia wins hands down.

This is part of my concern. As I say, I do like the Ibiza, but the 5 door doesn't seem to have much room in the back which is the main reason for change. Also, to get a better engine than the current 1.4, along with some extra kit we would be looking at quite a bit more money than the Monte Carlo Tech.

I guess the main thing we want is to have at least some equity in it after 2 and a bit years. That way, we can change at that point anyway.

Do you think a two year old, low mileage Monte Carlo Tech will still give me a decent trade in value?

Hope these help with the esp query?
