Retrofit CD changer

Featured Replies

Hello again, I have another question. I wanted to fit a cd changer to my 2004 VRS and it doesn't seem as straightforward as I thought and I thought someone on here could help.

I bought the changer from ebay and as you can see it has the big bracket still fitted. I assumed it'd fit below the seat but no! What I need to know is can I fit it under the seat or do I need to remove/replace the box under the seat? On the other hand if I go to fit it in the boot where should it be fitted? I apologise for being a bit vague! I bought a cable to connect it to my radio and I assume regardless of where I fit the changer it's just a matter of running the cable up the n/s sill under the carpet?

If anyone has done this and could help me with any info I'd be very pleased! Thank you!

Have a read here

Essentially you can't have a underseat storage box AND CD changer. You have to take the storage box out and replace it with a new plastic housing for the CD changer (or if you the feeling pikey hack the back of the box and bodge it)

Thats the octavia boot bracket mate.

Where did you get the cable?

Cost and does it work. Have you just tried pluggin it in to be sure?

There is a set of brackets that replace the box under the seat. Ill have a see if they are still gettable. I know the whole kit isnt with all brackets and cable. I tried getting from tps and stealers.

Individual brackets might be gettable tho.

Not hard. Only unscrews.

Seat itself I dont think is touched.

Just the lead was my stopping point as I am a stickler for oem parts and tgings being done right

If ordered from the factory with the CD changer, the underseat box moved to under the driver's seat. There's a specific underseat surround for the CD changer... though not utterly essential IMO.

4.7M mini-ISO cable is around £10 on eBay. Fitting would require some disassembly/reassembly.... Head unit, glovebox, carpet securing trim etc....

These days of MP3s, easiest option is to replace the factory head unit with MP3 capable unit. Or hide a Connects2 unit in the glovebox or similar if you want to keep the factory h/u.
