just collected my car after its 150k mile service, all good, except what i was expecting to hear.

Id noticed a little steering wobble under braking, intermittently, and this week a little rubbing under braking, so i wasnt surprised when i was told i need new discs and pads

Just curious though, as i was given a price of about 240-250 euro (250 = £213.40 by xe.com just now)

for front discs and pads fitted.

does this sound about right or pricey? it was a main dealer so it would oem parts.

Well over priced if it was a normal garage, but as it's a dealer...... but you can buy a set of drilled and groved discs from mtec in ireland £50 and the pads are like £20, fitting them is fairly straight forward, watch a youtube cliip and have a bash, save yourself well over 160 euros

mmm... wont need drilled or grooved tbh, my Octy is a daily and doesnt get reddened too often due to the lovely roads ive to drive on going to work.

 

What brand and size, or P/N are the standard discs and pads for a diesel mk1 2004?

Front discs on a tdi are 280mm, dunno what brands are available at your parts supplier.

And I believe Bosch Pads are regarded hghly around here?
