Fabia vRS still down on power

Featured Replies

All,

Had my fabia vrs for around 1 month now, since ive owned it its had a new turbo (2 days after i bought it)

A new MAF Sensor

New intercooler

All of the work has been completed by a garage local to me that was chosen by the dealership i bought the car from as it was completed under the 6 month warranty it came with.

I got it back today with the new intercooler, it felt a little faster than before as it had a bad boost leak but still doesn't feel as fast as it did when i first bought it with the original turbo.

Im worries that a cheap turbo was used as a replacement as it doesn't feel a torquey or as powerful as when i first bought the car... I've had no receipts from the garage or from the dealership yet and the guy who arranges the work to be done is saying he doesnt know what the parts they are using...

Is there anywhere i can take the car to find out what is wrong with it once and for all as its ****ing me off now, i didnt buy a fabia vrs for the feel of a pd90 and ive nearly had enough now...

Im in leicester and dont mind driving too far to get it looked at and diagnosed.

thanks.

you have probably done this already, but if not.

Make sure everything is switched off on the car, then disconnect the battery for 30 minutes, then reconnect and start the car and let it idle without touching anything electrical or any pedals.

This re sets the ecu.

They have a memory so it might still be driving badly from the precious parts fitted

Hope I'm making sense. Give it a go.

Good luck!

Hey,

Ive tried disconnecting the battery and allowing the edu to reset, but upon startup i pretty much drove away in it after around 15-20 seconds of ideling, its not seemed to make any difference but i will try it again, how long should i leave it to idle for?

Leave it to idle for 30 minutes without touching anything!

Disconnect battery for 30 minutes, then allow to idle for 30 minutes. Touch no pedals or anything electric.

Do you have or have access to VCDS or VCDS lite?

We can carry out logs which may help identify the issue.

Car seems to not be getting any better...

The car has seemed down on power all weekend still... It seems like there is boost there but something is stopping it from accelerating, maybe a fuel issue?

I noticed on the way to work at 5:30am this morning i had developed a misfire/judder under full throttle in 3rd 5th and 6th gears, it proably is in the other gears too but didnt have chance to test it, It also is very jerky when gently coming back on to the throttle inbetween 1500-2300rpm ish.

Does this sound like its a fuel issue? Or did the garage repair my car with cheap parts? remember ive just had a new turbo, intercooler and maf.

The weather was very bad this morning, terrential rain could of had an affect on the misfire/judder?

thanks.

i had a mis fire on my old vrs, was faulty wiring loom in the head. It wasnt that bad at first but then it got real bad and eventually brought up an engine management light.

Cheers for the response, its looking like its a combinations of cheap repair parts under the garages wanrrenty and a fueling issue of some kind. will keep this updated.
