Octavia 3 Estate 1.2 TSI just over a week now

Featured Replies

Picked up our new Mk III last Friday, not done alot of miles but a few notes so far.

Here in Germany there are 2 different 1.2 TSI motors 85 HP and 105 HP, we did a test drive in both and went for the 105 HP car. Previously had a 1.9 TDI Passat.

Space, loads of it both in Width and length, son is 6"6" tall and I am similar round the waist, took the outlaws for a spin today father in law is a Mercedes man and thought it had plenty of space and comfort.

Not got the pick up of the 1.9 TDI but for my needs does a great job, went for an Autobahn Cruise at about 120 - 140 KMH,  comfortable and could still hear wife and mother in law in the back (unfortunately) hope to cruise at about 150 - 160 KMH once run in. Car tax is 38 Euro per year Vs over 300 on the old car so a good saving there, Petrol is about 15 cents more per litre than diesel here, hopefully with better consumption that will even out.

Pull away with 4 adults in the car was fine, the real test will be Ski holiday next year with 4 adults, ski box on top and full boot, we have quite a bit of hilly autobahn driving on that trip and about 10 - 12 hour drive.

Winter tyres  are compulsary here so had the fitted when we picked up and stored the summer ones, got them as part of the package. Only thing we are looking for now are door trims / moulds that are not yet available for this model.

This post needs pics!

of the car or of the mother in law ?

  • 2 months later...

Within two weeks (I hope) I'll have my 1.2 tsi combi 105 HP, replacing an O2 FL 1.6 tdi. Looking forward to it, of course, and I'm still not sure whether I shouldn't have opted for the 1.4 tsi. But there is the money, the tax and most of all SWMBO.

of the car or of the mother in law ?

Just post the one that looks better flat out ?
