Rubber 'strap' for closing tailgate...

Featured Replies

Why when you spec the electric tailgate does it still come with the rubber strap thing to close it even though the manual says closing the tailgate manually from anything other than the centre will damage it??

I'm actually tempted to remove it...

It'll probably damage it if it's working normally, but if the power supply is not working or there's a fault then it would have to be closed manually by hand.

Well yes that's true but the manual states it must be closed from the centre to avoid any twisting of the mechanism. So using the strap at will could damage it....

The strap is very close to the centre, you'd have to be pretty ham-fisted to twist the lid!
