Loose boost pipe coming from Turbo

Featured Replies

Hi all. My car is a bit poorly at the moment (as per title) was pulling out at a round about, bit of a pop, massive ploom of exhaust smoke resulting in no power. A new whistle was now present though (police siren ish).

Car would still drive but no torque at all, no warning lights or anything like that.

Got the car home as I was only local, removed the drivers side wheel arch are and I could rattle the said boost pipe about between the turbo and intercooler. It wasn't obviously damaged just not a tight fit.

When I bought the car I got a three year extended warranty so it has been taken to skoda for them to have a look at.

Now I have read a few similar threads touching on problems like this but they don't seem quite like mine! Lol

Any thoughts on what this is? am I right in thinking this is quite common? Expensive fix?

Thanks in advance for any input.

The clips that hold the pipes together are known to wear and loosen up over time! you can buy upgraded billet connectors on ebay.

I think darkside does an entire upgraded silicone pipe work for around £250

this is the pipe I replaced the one that comes straight off the turbo.

Cheers mate, I'll be keeping everything OEM for the time being to keep my warranty valid. This is the problematic pipe for me as well though!

Just out of interest, did you take the belly pan bit off your car to fit this? It all looked a bit tight when I looked through the wheel arch.

Yeah you need to get into it from the bottom. take the lower engine cover off and you can get easy access to all the lower pipes.

I removed the belly pan to fit mine.

I did notice my standard one was very right fitting when I removed it though. I only removed mine to upgrade to FMIC pipework.

Well I'might glad I have warranty as there is play in the turbo impeller shaft and the turbo needs replacing as well.
