Intelligent lighting assist - impressed

"So that boils down to an extra £575 for the vRS styling, 0.1 sec quicker sprint time". I assume this is comparing the 150hp and 184hp diesels?

I don't believe that an extra 34hp only reduces the 0-60 by 0.1sec. One (or both!) of the stated 0-60 times is obviously wrong. Has any car mag published measured 0-60 rather than just quoting Skoda's figures.

vRS TDI 0-62 is 8.1 sec, 150CR is 8.2 secs. I understand the main reason is the vRS is a lot heavier due to the rear suspension set up and also the 185CR is a development of older 170CR whereas 150CR is a newer design so minimal power to weight difference between the two! Also, Skoda website don't quote 0-62 but figures are widely published on internet from various car mags, I got my figures from Auto Express.

Thought Lane Assistant was an option on the Elegance? Didn't spec it on mine though.

Not available at mo on Eleg, not on configurator anyway, I assume due to supply probs, as with ACC and Front Assist.

Sorry reviving old thread. What happens when a cyclist or walker is coming towards you with the light assist. Is there a quick way to turn it off?

Yes, just pull the stalk towards you as if you were dipping on a car without light assist.

Thanks. Sounds brill then. Can't wait to get mine!

I think you actually push it again away from you to turn it off? Pulling towards you enables the manual high beams I think.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet due to the lighter nights but I'm pleased to hear it does actually work :)

I was so tempted by this when I ordered my car But ended up spending the money on the canton sound. why did manufacturers go away from this back in the 60s? My wife's 65 Cadillac has it and it works great too. Even has directional lights that come on when you indicate. Shame she couldn't find a top spec one as those even had ligths that come on when it gets dark! Named in American fashion as the guidematic and twilight sentinel!

Gutted. Just found out that this option isn't available for a car coming to NZ, even though it's on the extras spec list. This was the one gadget I was really excited about, it's even worse now I hear it works well!

Message from the production line: " We are having trouble getting this vehicle into a build week due to the Light Assist. The option does not appear to be released for our market.

Could you please check how important this is for the customer as I fear it may hold this vehicle up for quite some time." :-(

Just remember to turn them off before pulling the screen washing arm, or you'll use half the screen wash bottle on the head lights.

Why does it use half the screen wash if you leave the lights on?

If you have a car equipped with headlamp washers they trigger on every first pull of the washer stalk if the lights are switched on or auto activated, then happens again on 10th successive pull of the stalk.

The washer system is two stage in that the washers pop out once, spray the lamps (with alot of fluid) to loosen dirt, retract then pop out again shortly afterwards to clean the lamps (again with alot of fluid). The reservoir I suspect is a bit bigger than those without the washers but if you wash your windscreen regularly with the headlamps on just be prepared to fill the reservoir often.

Something good about having the headlight washers though is that they come with the low fluid sensor which is nice, also once the low fluid warning has been triggered the headlamp washers deactivate to preserve fluid, I estimate at that point there is still around 1 litre of fluid left and it lasts a while...ive not yet run out of fluid in mine put it that way.

When the lights are on & you do a screen wash it also activates the headlight wash system. You obviously use more screen wash but perhaps not half a bottle!!
