Getting key cut

Featured Replies

Fitted remote locking with the replica VAG flip out keys.

Went into timpsons today, asked the bloke how much to cut my blanks. He said 'ebay right? nah mate I won't touch them, they shatter in the ignition barrel'

I told him I didn't care what crappy scaremongering he had to offer me and could he cut them anyways and he said no.

Anyone else had this problem? And could anyone recommend a key cutting place that actually cuts keys?

Thanks

Yes, any "decent" key cutters TBH....

Although it took the place I went to about 3 times to get the laser cut just right but they can do it. I think I used black wolf in St Neots. Just make sure it fits smoothly in the door and ignition (they should check, and make sure the key is clean first)

FFS its only for a spare key normally, sounds like they have a policy to just not be arsed ! I think they said something similar when I asked them.

They overcharge for shoe stuff too, I just tend to sort out the wifes stuff myself e.g. heel tips, its far cheaper.

Presumably you've thought about the immob glass also.

Thanks, as I couldnt even get a price outta this tool any idea what it'll roughly cost me? Yes I have a 'friend' that can recode chips for £10 a pop. The keys have the slot inside for the chip.

You can get a key cut from picture on ebay. Cost £10 or so. It's my understanding that you can't recode the chip and it has to be a new 'virgin' one. £10 to pull the code, supply and programme a new chip is a bargain.
