Who's had tailgate done under warranty ?

Featured Replies

Anyone had there's done ? I took mine to skoda as it started to rust from under the paint, they agreed straight away to sort it which I was suprised at. It went in last Monday, they said they would have it for a week at max, now they've told me Wednesday because they needed to replace the tailgate not paint it. Surely this shouldn't take as long or does it still need spraying? They've given me a 1.3 yaris as a courtesy car and it's driving me insane, easily the worst car I've ever driven ! Can not wait until I get it back

Yes the new boot will still need painting to match your car. I imagine they will swap everything over aswell to keep cost down. The wait is most likley down to waiting for a boot to be delivered as i doubt they stock them at the local dealers.

Never thought about it but I have a rust spot or 2 on mine, only very slight though.

I over took a 2009 mk2 Fabia the other day and there was a massive patch of rust by the rear plate. I think they probably drilled into the boot for the plate!

We had a Yaris as a courtesy car once, what a like of crap it was!

They've given me a 1.3 yaris as a courtesy car

Skoda : 'There you go sir, theres your keys to your courtesy car'

You : 'its ok, ill walk'

:D

Sills and rear arches are popping up in rust conversations too, MikeB had his tailgate done not so long ago.

im sure your the same tom that my mate bought his 106 off and on fb called my vrs a lump of **** because the tailgate stated bubbling and said how amazing theirs was

Mines going in the 25th nov to get boot and quarter panel done. Noticed when i put on my pressed plates that the garage i bought it from drilled new holes in the boot for plates :o.

Thus technically invalidating the anti perforation warranty. Muppets.

Im off to Skoda now to see if they will do mine. It's just about still under warranty for corrosion, its all bubbled up on the tailgate under the paint. They going to have a look at it and send pics off to see if it is a warranty issue.

The guy I spoke to on the phone was a right kn0b though, the worst manners  :wall:

Will keep you posted on the outcome

My local stealer said my small bubbles are not covered, even though the paint has not broken........

I've got an appointment for the various rust parts on mine this afternoon too. Not expecting much, but we'll see what happens.

Ok, so my local Skoda deaer doesn't do body work repairs, they have to send the car elsehwere to get it done.

They also wern't sure if it was a warranty issue on my tailgate, they told me that their the skoda body work someone so and so is going to be there in the morning and that I should come back at 9AM to find out weather it can be done or not.

Not very helpful, they could have just told me that on the phone before i just drove 40 minutes. Not happy with their phone manner or service so far.

Grrrrr

I took my car to skoda as i got a rust hole near to where the number plate lights are which is getting alot worse and the bootlid is covered in rust spots under the paint.. i left the car with them for the whole day and they sent of the pictures 3 weeks later they told me they wouldnt redo it under warranty as they said its notthere problem and rust isnt covered :-( im stuck with a ****ed bootlid

Skoda dealerships are horrible places. Anyway, took mine in just now. The guy didn't prod / check anything himself, just took pictures of everything I pointed out. Noted my mileage (low at 47k), took photo's of my service history (full, including a lot of main dealer services). Said I should hear back before the end of the week as to whether they'll cover it or not. I'm hoping the lack of prodding, the low mileage and the service history will be taken into account. Probably just wishful thinking, but who knows. It's worth a shot.

At the end of the day all the dealer can do is send the pics off to Skoda for them to say yes or no, its out of their hands.

They should by rights take some paint depth measurements, if its obviously been repainted its a no go anyhow.

Mine isn't being done by skoda themselves it's a Toyota garage that is doing it hence the crappy courtesy car.

If I'm honest my tailgate wasn't even bad, I just thought I'd give it a shot and he straight away told me 'that will get done don't worry mate'. He said it was a common fault and nearly all of them get repaired/replaced. If I were you and it didn't go through is try another dealer.

Rust is obviously in the warranty as it is an anti corrosion warranty which basically is posh for rust lol so the guy you were talking about clearly didn't want to do it.

Here's a few pics of mine, not the best pictures either but that's how little it was.

this is in the same place as mine, and not as bad either. So I'm really hoping that it gets done and I get a car as a replacement in the mean time!

Lol ... an s3 would be alot better with 4 wheel drive etc ... even if it does drink abit

They pics are the same as mine and in the bottom corners of the plates. Well i know theyve technically voided the warranty but my plates are now on with sticky pads and theyve accepted it now so i can only hope when they take off the plate they still go ahead with it :s. Dont see why they wouldnt. And to anyone thats having problems with getting a skoda dealer to sort out the problem why not just cut out the dealer and go straight to the body shop? Thats what i done and got a really helpful guy and my claim was accepted within a week ;)
