Hybrid turbo and fmic with no remap?

Featured Replies

Good evening,

I was wondering what sort of adverse effects I'd see if any by running a hybrid pd130 turbo capable of 215bhp and an airtech intercooler without getting the car remapped.

I will be fitting the aforementioned stuff soon but probably won't be remapping it until Christmas time due to funding.

Roughly how much would the car be running at without a remap with these mods? And is it going to cause loads of turbo lag or even smoke loads?

Thanks a lot :)

Might notice a little extra lag, not massive amounts though. The car won't make any more power without a remap though.

Ive had a hybrid 130 and fmic with out a map for about 4000 miles. My car actually seems abit quicker than before but I think my old turbo was one the way out from when I bought it as it only made 157 in the rollers. My car is actually going on the rollers this sat so I will get a reading for before and after the map (when ever that is?). Car is no more laggy than before as it the same size turbo. It may be abit more responsive but I put that down to the decat and no silencer system.

Its fine but will still be 130bhp

Iv been running mine like that for a year now on the 130 map. Its slower than a standard vrs because of the lag. But pulls harder at the top end. Would advise getting it custom mapped asap ;). Will def not be running any extra bhp

Great to hear, thanks a lot. Read some scare threads about it running lean because of the new turbo or something and the engine going bang potentially.

Running lean, det/detonation and generally expensive cement mixer sounds are generally the province of Petrol turbo tuning.

Just to let you all know I made 157bhp and 280ft/lbs on a standard turbo with stage 1 map and yesterday it made 177bhp and 320ft/lbs on the same stage 1 map but with a hybrid turbo and bigger fmic and turbo back 0 silencer exhaust. I think my old turbo was on the way out to get 20 extra bhp. So you could gain some power if your kkk turbo isnt in the best condition.
