Think its a good idea to hide your magic tree under your sun visor. It will warp the crappy plastic!

The question for me is:

Is the plastic crappy

or are Magic Tree's just hella nasty?

Chances are if you left it on the floor the car would look like something from the flintstones.

God knows what is in the magic tree. Hydrochloric acid??

I'm fairly sure I don't want to be breathing whatever it is in.

Mrs Oz once hung some air freshener dispenser thing with a liquid in it on the vent of her two-week-old Fiesta, and it melted the plastic and messed with the "aluminium" paint finish...

As for the Magic Trees, I hate the smell of them and all those air fresheners. Like Sparkly I don't fancy breathing in what's sure to be cancer-causing in twenty years or so.

Regarding the liquid air freshener thingy, the same thing has happened to someone I know with an Octavia MKII. It peeled off the finish and melted partially the plastics.

There is only one air freshener I like (something like a magic tree) vanilla and I hang that in the boot so the smell is not that obvious.

I was given one of those for free - Coconut - they don't do anything at all. Waste of money.

California scents! The pots that fit are cupholder sized fit, urr perfect haha!

Never tried it, I just think the promo videos that CG have made are hysterical.

Mostly I just prefer to keep my car clean.

At a push I have used one of the jelly belly ones but not even so keen on that. SWMBO really can't stand them so tend to look for other ways to keep smells at bay.

Had one of these http://direct.asda.com/Auto-Expressions-Vent-Fresh-Car-Air-Freshener---Raspberry/001027125,default,pd.html which I quite liked, SWMBO made a point of throwing it out of the car and running it over when coming to pick me up......whilst I was getting HER car serviced

Have smelt a couple of the California scents in peoples cars and taxis and they made me feel physically unwell, really overpowering noxious chemical smell. One was the really popular Cherry one, not for me.

There's a chance that there are good'uns and bad'uns they look to have a huge range.

Here's a good idea for someone with a lot of time on there hands.

Pick up a piece of plastic trim from a breakers and spot test a bunch of popular air fresheners against the trim over 24hrs.

Totally unscientific but I would suggest we all think twice about inhaling the fumes from the ones that munch the plastic.

..........and as we speak the PA has just come down the corridor with a can of Febreeze like she's fumigating the cabin of a 747 against insects. Bleurgh......must.......open.........window

My Car still has that 'New Car Smell' :D

I might get one of those Smilie Ball things from Halfrauds when the smell goes! :(

I find damp fishing nets mask most smells (no not fishnets), fishing nets.

Tony :giggle:

I find the sight of fishnets make me forget anything else!

Vanilla Smelly stuff in cars is quite nice IMO, but just has me hungry all the time.

Or actually just even hungrier than when it is not their.

Bacon air freshener?

In all fairness, it does say on the packet of those trees not to put them up against, sitting on or touching plastic and trim in any way.

My friend the traffic policeman searches every car he stops with those with a drugs dog !

You have to be a real boring Norman to read the packet of a magic tree air freshner!!

Just let one off every now and again best fragrance in the world , however the wife doesn't think so :D

I read things when I'm bored. And I'd prefer to read something at least slightly useful rather than a stupid fiction book.

I have a lemon jelly bean thingy but I place it under the driver seat, in the thin beam at the rear. too far away to be overbearing, reasonable wafts now and then to get rid of the occasional smelly student! Also, almost un-noticable to passengers.

I've never ever put an air freshener in any car I've owned.
