Router won't connect in upstairs socket

Featured Replies

Our house was built with a phone socket in the main bedroom.

The phone socket works, yet the router won't connect or seem to attempt to when put into the filter.

Having some flooring laid in the lounge and hoped to relocate the router for the day but seems it's not that easy?

Both sockets have filters in

Experienced a similar problem at my Bro-in-Law's house:

A BT Freestyle telephone (which needs a 240V supply) would not connect to the extension socket, whereas a simple (non-240V) telephone worked perfectly in the extension socket.

Never found the cause of this - but didn't look too hard since (like yours) it was only a temporary measure.

I had a similar problem, which turned out to be a dodgy microfilter. Have you tried swapping the filters over?

I replaced the upstairs one. Will try the lounge one tomorrow.

Check how it is wired, it could be wired wrong from the master socket but still work? These days you only need 2, 3 and 5 with 2 & 5 being the common DSL connections.

Pretty sure I checked behind it once for some reason (maybe the same reason) and the socket plugged into another socket behind it. I don't recall a separate master socket

All sorted. Had 20 min before the workmen arrived.

Cable 2 wasn't fully into the faceplate downstairs and 3 wasn't in properly upstairs.

Once pushed into the clip (don't know the correct term) dsl light fired up.
