Are the bonnets the same on all mk1 and just grills difference between preface and facelift?

Thinking my bonnet has been replaced and has a grappy grill which I want to replace for standard but dont want to buy a grill to find it wont fit if i have a preface bonnet!

No. The shape of the pressing is different to meet the different width grilles. All vRS are post-facelift though.

Im thinking the bonnet could have been used from a preface but difficult to tell with the crapy grill!

Do the headlight glasses have ribbing on them? If they do they're pre-facelift and if they don't they're post. The grille and bonnet changes were to accomodate different width/shape headlights.
