  • Having never fitted them before I was hoping to go super sonic with winter wheels  , on here there have been people who have had issues with insurance companies and winter wheels and tyres.

  • The manual for our Leon explicitly says that fitting lower speed rating winter tyres is fine, either T, H or V, just don't exceed the maximum speed. Went for T rated ones and I don't think swmbo will

  • TudorM, i will post pics when the car arrives! Mild winters in Romania? Then you must be a Ursus maritimus! Becaus i was freezing my balls of when i worked in Romania!

Thanks Rakash. I was looking at them on www.wheelbasealloys.com as a package with Nokian WR A3 winter tyres, at £1249.00. Sounds expensive compared with what you said in Euros.

I found them in http://www.felgenoutlet.de/de_de/3760400e_Skoda-Octavia-5E--ab-2013---/Alufelgen+Reifen/92115_f1_z16/BBS_SR_himalaya_grau_matt .

But they where out of stock so i had to buy from bbs-wheel-shop.de, and they turned out to be cheaper on shipping so that my total became cheaper stil!

But if you are considdering 17" the price you got isnt that bad.

Don't forget to factor in £-€ exchange rates + Shipping,

Those wheels are currently €148 a piece (~£127) + your shipping charges. You may be able to find some wheels cheaper than that, in fact I know you can if you shop around.

I got them delivered at my dor for 560 euro, and for me that was a niceprice  :sun:

I have a set of steel wheel coming will I need to get new bolts and if so what size?

Depends if VAG wheels or not. With VAG wheels you shouldn't need new bolts, with 3rd party you might do depending on the seat for the bolt. Best to ask your supplier.

Thanks I will contact MyTyres.

Should be OK with the bolts you have for steels. It's generally after-market alloys that need differing bolts due to the cone shape.

I have purchased and fitted a set of winters on steels(from mytyres). The steels were 16" in place of 17 alloys. No problems with bolts or caliper clearence. Added some hubs from halfords (milwaukee).

There seems to be less road noise when driving round town, but more noise at speed.

BBS SR on the way, hope they will fitt!

I was looking at those for my VRS, but decided that they're too expensive for winter wheels. And also when we're getting mild winters, snow doesn't last that long, maybe 2-3 months tops.

But I really like the design! Please post some pics after you get them fitted to your car, please! :)

Actually I did work offshore for some time, haha! After some of the storms you get out there, anything else seems like a breeze... :)

Our winters though still can't compare with what you guys are having the chance of "enjoying" in Norway. I hope it doesn't take too long for your car to arrive, I had 30 weeks on my contract and it ended up arriving after just 10. Fingers crossed!

But then again you have nice summers, especially in Constanta! Not to hot and nice beaches... ;)

The car is actually in Norway, just haven't arrived at my dealer yet..

I'm having a nightmare with Oponeo. I'm trying to order some Wolfrace GB DH alloys from them in size 7.5x17 with Offset of 47. The wheels appear in the list of suitable wheels for a Mark III vRS Estate with the 184PS diesel engine, but Oponeo's "technical" department are now saying they won't fit the car. Firstly they took the payment 5 times, and now this! I even spoke to Wolfrace and they say they should be fine with the correct fitting kit. I also had problems ordering tyres from Oponeo because I think they mispriced them too low. I'm hoping to fit Avon 205/50 R17 89H winter tyres to the wheels.

Can anyone see a reason why these wheels won't fit? Here's the link to the actual wheels: http://www.wheels.oponeo.co.uk/alloy-wheel/wolfrace-gb/dh/skoda/octavia/estate/iii/2-0-tsi-green-tec-rs-135kw

Many thanks

Gary

If they're giving you grief try: http://www.alloywheels.com/

Select VW Golf Mk 7 (2013 >) Wheel size 225/45 17

Oponeo finally seem to have sorted it. They called this afternoon and admitted their database was incorrect and the wheels should be with me next week.

My car was built week 47 and I should be collecting it on Monday.

Cheers

Gareth

I used oponeo quick delivery there database seemed not good for octi 2013 but got there in the end and about £300 cheaper than other companies

  • 4 weeks later...

Anybody tried 18" x 8J wheels with 225/40/18 tyres? I was assured by the supplier that they should fit my vRS, but the standard Pictoris and Gemini are 7.5J?

Do mk2 octy vRS wheels fit?

Do mk2 octy vRS wheels fit?
