Wax for fibreglass gel coat

Featured Replies

Sorry this has nothing to do with Skodas but I've had some excellent advice and information on here in the past so it was my first port of call.

I'm looking for some wax for a fibreglass gelcoat on a boat, nothing expensive and something that will be easy to apply, I'm unsure as to what is okay for a gelcoat and what isn't, if I use the wrong stuff would it deteriorate the coating?

Did think about just the basic Turtle wax or turtle wax ICE??

Thanks in advance.

Yes I knew about the Collinite, they do some excellent stuff for boats and I use some of their stuff on my Yeti... was really looking for a cheaper option, my boat is sold and I was wanting to give it a wax before it goes after that I won't need the rest of the wax so it would be a bit of a waste.

Any wax then

None of them will affect Gelcoats

They Sell teh Colli 476 for boats, so if you've get some, it's a fantastic winter wax for the car too.

2 or 3 coats will see you through the whole winter.

I've got 845 so will maybe go with that but think I'll purchase some of the 920 at £12.95, seems great value.

Thanks all.

ChrisRs thanks, that's a great link, just in time for me selling my boat!!

845 will be fine

Good luck selling the boat

Its sold.. sold at the beginning of the week, just want to wax it before it's collected.

I'll miss it but 49hrs use since 2005.. it was time for it to go, now on the market for a 5m rib.
