I've got a facelift climate switch ready to go on when the car comes back from R Tech but I need to buy a trim panel for it. The one I've found is listed as 'Fine Turned Aluminium' and is in the order of about £55 with VAT. Is there another silver version for the RS as the pre-FL panel for a sat nav and climate is about £19 so the price jump seems quite high.

the pre-fl might be slightly the wrong colour. Also, put a pic up of your centre console? In 2007 it was changed and i believe they changed it again after the face lift was introduced

The price discrepancy is correct. My new vRS trim for fitting with the Columbus was c£55 from my local dealer. The pre-facelift one is much cheaper.

That's what I thought. I have a pre-fl and bought the £19 surround when I fitted a Columbus sized unit. Now I've got the fl controls, I want the trim and was surprised there weren't more options.

Missed a carbon one on eBay last week. Would have done!

I picked up a standard silver FL surround on eBay, but noticed the same price jump. I put it down to the usual greed with parts prices, for stuff like this! :|

No not yet Steve, haven't bought the trim panel.

Didn't spot one on Ebay either, you've done well! What search terms did you use as I can't seem to find anything suitable.

According to Skodateile there are 3 types - a 'turned' alumnium look, carbon and a different silver plastic that looks more like the standard vRS one. I'd like the carbon but it would be a massive ballache to source and fit the other carbon parts and I can't really be bothered.

Will try to remember how I found it!

 

I just went for the standard silver one, as I thought I was lucky to find one at all! Plus the aluminium 'look' one was too pricey IMO, and rare to be selling on eBay anyway.

Was listed as, "Skoda Octavia Stereo Surround"

 

Description included "stainless steel effect silver" so might have struck lucky here actually! I've not actually unpacked it yet

Each surround should contain this part number: 1Z0 858 069 - then it will differ at the end, dependant on the finish and whether it's for Columbus or Bolero.

Bugger that's exactly what I need, been trying (and failing) to drop onto one if those for a while. Nice price too.

Meant to do the swap-over this weekend, and work out if I need to alter any of the pin settings on the back of the unit.

 

But it got overtaken by other house jobs
