Rota grid 9.5x18

Featured Replies

Well today i borrowed a couple of wheels off a mate seen as though there off his car :)

there rota grid drift in 9.5x18 all round,i've always wanted a set as i like the aggressive look of them but was unsure if 9.5 would fit on the front, the fronts are et 38 with 215/40/18 tires and plenty of stretch but you need a 10mm spacer to clear the strut but other than that they went straight on and even at the height i run i only got a little rubbing on full lock but i have no arch liners and the lips are rolled flat etc.

the rears he has are et23 with 225/40/18 tires and even with my rolled and flared rear arches they still scrubbed but that is mainly cos of the lows but wheel arch is trashed anyway as you can see in the pics so didn't care about the rubbing lol but that could be solved with raising a bit.

really like them on the car and will deffo be on the look out for a set as soon as i get some spare cash but will go for et38 all round though and will space them to suit.

i'm even considering been daft if i get some and fitting some jdm style rivet on arches to hide the mangled wheel arch lips which i'm sure people will hate lol but i can't really be bothered to pay a fortune to get the bodywork sorted anymore as the car is worth nothing and i'll only end up scrapping it once it dies haha,

here's a few rubbish pics but will try to get some better ones tomorrow.

they won't be everyones cup of tea but comments welcome.

Theyd look cool white or red

I want them in white for my silver one

Take a pic from behind....it will look so fat!!!!!

These are my favourite wheel at the moment and maybe the 3SDM 0.01's. I love them. Look good on my silver vrs. The front looks spot on. But rear way to much coming out for my liking. I would love a set of 8.5 maybe 9" with decent offset to tuck inside arch and also not need spacers

Good job there.

Looking good dsmith where do you get all these wheels from dude :wonder: not sure about the rivet idea do you mean like the old proton GTI's back in the day?

Scrotas. :giggle:  Dont think they suit the car at all, they look terrible. :)

Love them, but I agree with Bowders rears stick out too much.

The rears are a bit much but that's down to them been et23,when I get a set I'll go et38 all round like the front pair and they'd need spacers anyway cos fronts rub on the struts and my rear arches been flared they'd need spacing too :)

And yes Chris the arches I mean are kind of like the old proton gti and although they will get a lot of hate they will cover over my wrecked wheel arches, that's if I decide to do it,just don't fancy throwing money at getting the body work sorted as I can't be bothered to chuck that kind of money into a car that I'll only be able to scrap eventually.

May even plastidip or rattle can the full car yet lol.

and even tempted to be even more stupid if I decide to put the arches on and go the full on motorsport/time attack look, splitter, canards, rear diffuser, massive spoiler etc haha just cos I'm bored of the look it has now,my split rims will be going on the wife's Ibiza next summer anyway and I need a change even if everyone thinks its a bad idea.

Do it m8, your car always ends up looking awesome

I think it looks awesome. Can't beat a nice big fat set of rims. And I think the proton gti's looked good in a strange way. My mate had one cracking motor it was.

Fronts look spot on, but as said rears look too fat! But with slightly lower offset and maybe some small mud guards would look good.

I love the look of the proton arches... do  it ,,, do it

and as daft as i may sound and as much as people think i'll ruin the car then this is the sort of thing i mean by the arches and also fancy having a similar full time attack look as the subaru even though i'll get slated and told a skoda is hardly a time attack car which i appreciate,i just like the look and fancy doing something daft lol

I think you should go for it, I want to see the pictures :D it will look mean the octy has aggressive styling anyway in my oppinion so why not make it look like it will bite your legs off :) :)

Do it....Do it........

Love it.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes !!!

Turn an occy into a time attack car pleasseeeeeee!

Id love my Octy to look like this!

Used to be my wallpaper for several years

Funny as I actually have that full decal set that I was going to fit on my silver vrs but don't have the balls.

Mark I will put them on mine ;-)

I like the rotas and think some proton gti style arches could look good with the right sided skirts possibly side exit exhaust through the skirt mustang style.

Mostly positive comments so far so here's some balance.

Looks ludicrous and is illegal for road use.  Tell you insurance company the width of wheel and tyre size you are using and see what they say.

We'll see what happens, need to get some spare cash first and wether people love it or hate it then I don't really care,I do it for me and not for others:)

And philbes it's a common thing for people to dislike stretched tires and assume there illegal but I agree the front tires on his rims are under spec but the rear tires are fine as 225 section tires are within the manufacturers guidelines

But if you dont like stretched tires and jump on the bandwagon and believe the Internet hype, then stretched tires kill people,FACT lol
