Problems with Sony V500

Featured Replies

My first proper post on Briskoda (been lurking for ages and have just got a Superb Elegance PD130) and its not even Skoda related!

Hello,

A customer of ours has got a Sony V500 AIT-2 drive in a Windows 2003 server running backup exec 10, the setup works but the tape is getting full with approx 65Gb backed up to it. As I understand it the drive is capable of storing 50Gb native and 130Gb compressed. I have checked the settings in BExec and it is set to use hardware compression otherwise software. I have googled and had a look on Symantec's (veritas's) site and can't see that anyone else has this problem. This is an unusual setup for us as we have always used DDS drives for our customers, can anyone shed any light??

Cheers
