Wardy's Octy Mk2 - Black Magic PD140 Elegance

Featured Replies

Not really sure why I've not ever done a journal for this car, seeing it's the longest I've ever had a car!

Thought it would be good to document what I've done, and what's happened, since purchasing in August 2010 :)

I bought it as a bit of a project as it was owned by an older chap who had run it from new, first under a company scheme then buying it over to run himself. Wheels were pretty shot cosmetically and he seemed to have issues recognising the width of obstacles ;)

It fitted the bill though, was mechanically sound and came with plenty of paperwork. The spec was also right, being an Elegance model. This one had Maxidot, the 17" Pegasus wheels and the 'Sports' suspension, in addition to the usual headlamp washers, auto-dimming rear view mirror that weren't physically available on vRS models from the same period.

Also at the time, and with the budget available, I specifically didn't want an earlier vRS PD170, with the issues around injectors (before a time when they officially issue a recall) and most importantly to avoid the DPF. I obviously recognised and understood this could be removed, but it still troubled me from a design point of view, when the PD technology was never intended to incorporate a particulate filter.

That's enough of the background then. I'll now try to chronologically list what I did - tweaks, upgrades, changes - as well as a drama or two along the way ;)

Cheers,
Steve

Looking forward to the read :)

Haha, I know - should have been done long ago :)

I used to setup a 'Members Cars' thread the day I bought them usually!
