Hello people, couple of problems with my VRS, hoping you wonderful people will know whats wrong and tell me what I need!

 

Firstly - 

 

There is a slight clunk when the gear is selected for the first time. I.e When i put the clutch down and select a gear it donks. The clutch bites fine and has never slipped despite the 300lbft.

 

*I was told 'It sounds like the clutch isn't fully disengaging' 

 

Secondly - 

 

On cold start up the engine, or something in it, rattles. I changed the tensioner and the belt to no avail. if anything the colder she is the more it does it. After a short drive (2 minutes) the noise subsides.

 

 

my question is; Do you think the two issues are connected and would a new clutch and flywheel be advisable now?

 

 

If so, which clutch, best price etc. I can fit it myself.

 

Plans for the car this year are bigger turbo pd150, maybe an intercooler.  Power raised to a hopeful 200bhp with a bit over 300lbft.

does it make any difference on a cold start clutch up or down?

I will properly test this tomorrow morning but i can't recall it changing.

just as i recently had a rattle when the clutch was around biting point when cold and 1 -2 felt notchy .... turned out gear box was low on oil .....

maybe worth a quick check?
