Where to wire heated seats

Featured Replies

I've changed my seats again, and bought some heated leathers.

My question is, where should I wire the heater to on the seats?

Where's the best place to go?

:)

Mines got heated seats as standard :P

Ermmm ill you might need to wire in retro fit wire from scratch

Thanks for the info. The seats are from another car, and wondered where the best place is going to be to get their power supply!

I'll keep you updated :)

I'm equally interested in this. I've seen about the loom mentioned above also.

Might be useful to write this up / share info on any progress ?

Did you say you have got the older style Recaros from a Golf, like I got recently ? I was planning to double check the connectors that are on mine, and I'm looking to confirm what switch is needed too, so might be useful to compare with what you guys have in the way of connectors on the seat itself.

The seats that I've bought are Alfa Romeo 147 seats.

I haven't looked at the loom yet, but I was kind of hoping as the on button is actually on the seat that it might just be a case of just giving it a power supply. A simple positive and negative.

When I decide to tackle it I'll keep you all posted and let you know what I do :)

Hopefully it won't take much modification to get the seats to fit!

In your case it might be useful to take a look at the wiring for the Alfa just to check if it is in fact that simple (hopefully)?

Have you tried googling for wiring instructions for a point of comparison ? The VW/Skoda ones have controls, like per this one (surely that would be mroe controllable that just on/off)?

Could you actually adapt so you have better control than just on/off I would imagine that would be better than all or nothing?

What is the feedback also on the heating on the alfas, does it work well ?

I came across this thread also, could be useful as a point of reference as well

I take it you have the switches for the dash, that turns them I/O and adjusts the levels?

On mine. The heated seat switch is a roller going from 0-5 its in the blank buttons by the b traction control

Btw im guessing they will draw quite allot. So might be best too find an ignition live then tap it with a relay ;)
