Many apologies if this has been asked before but, what are the black elastic cords that run along the top of the storage wells in the driver and passenger doors for? My first thought was that they were to hold books, maps etc and people I've asked (non Skoda owners) agree, but I'm not convinved.

 

There's probably going to be a very simple, logical reason and I'm going to look very silly, I know.

My guess is for maps or magazines.

So is not for hanging my washing on then?

Deffo for maps, atlas' etc. stops them from getting in a flap... Need some on the passenger seat for the Mrs!

You can take it off, tie it to a stick and use it as a bow and arrow...

You put it round your leg, it's so when the door falls off you don't have to go back and get it. Oh wait, that's old Skoda isn't it...

Guess it must be for paperwork then.
