My Fabia vRS is due for a 12k service. I was thinking of taking it to Sparshatts in Botley. I know most dealers do try and rip you off, so i'm looking for one for the best value for money please?

I've heard nothing but bad things about botley... Never used them though. Personally I'd use VW Independant on the Hedge End industrial estate or their other branch in Chandlers Ford - school lane. They are VAG specialists I used to take my old mk4 golf there and they were always fantastic. Genuine parts with cheaper labour and a specialist too.

+1 for them, there's even a member on here who works there. Funnily enough I was with him on wednesday. He owes me a bottle of screen wash after dumping soot over my screen, several times, on wednesday night

 

There's also AbTech in Totton, they did my cam belt and some other stuff and were pretty good for the money.

Ok that sounds good! Any ideas on how much a 12k serv is?

No idea just pop on the website and drop Malcolm an email and they get back to you pretty sharpish or just give them a call.

Many thanks BJB540 for the recommendation. Dropped the car off today at VW independent for a 20k service, been quoted £260. Do you think thats not too bad? 

Doesn't sound a too horrible price. I've always trusted them and had nothing but brilliant service, think they are all great guys. Hope you find the same

Just by way of contrast, I had terrible service from Independent VW Specialists in Chandlers Ford. They sprayed thick black moly-type grease on the door hinges and check straps on my spotlessly clean yellow vRS. Could have accepted this except for the major row which erupted with the manager when I asked them to clean it up. Would never recommend them to anybody.

Shame to hear. Just goes to show how people have different experiences. I've always found the guys at Chandlers Ford fantastic though.

got car back, it felt very smooth, so they must have done a good job.

only thing I was a little peeved about is they didn't clean and wash the car which I thought they did. (Maybe it wasn't dirty enough)

Maybe that's new then! I've had my car washed their. But then again I always tell the garages not too bother as I'd rather do it myself.
