Order my Monte Carlo today :)

Featured Replies

I'm going into order my Monte today, I've read a few things about asking the dealer to change a few hings like turn the headlight power up.

Can anyone suggest any 'essential' things that need changing that make for a better experience/look?

Cheers

One press lock/unlock for the key fob to unlock all the doors together rather than just 1press for driver's door and 2 presses for all of them.

You can have anti hijack where all the doors will lock when you first pull away after you've stared the car. I haven't done that one as I give a lift to someone at work so it means having to unlock the doors every time he gets out, a lot of people on here have it activated though.

I asked for the alarm beep/chirp to be activated when it went into the garage as well as the cornering function for the fog lights but these features don't seem to be working so don't know if these can be done or not.

The car is going back in next Monday so will ask if they can try again to activate them.

Hi and welcome to the Monte Carlo Club, what model are you going for?

The headlight thing that you are referring to is the beam adjustment, most owners have discovered that whilst within the legal tolerance the headlamps seem to be set low, the cure is to have them adjusted to the upper limit. I haven't found this personally as I live in London and I've only had mine for 2-weeks (Black Edition) so I've still got time to find out when I take a trip out into the country

What is is the cornering function for the fog lights?

I think it's when you flick the left/right indicator on, the fog light below will turn on. I've seen a few fiat bravo's with them.

Or as with many drivers of the likes of the Grande Punto, VW, Skodas etc,

they do not bother with something as obvious as using a orange flashing light to indicate to other road users their intention,

i am about to go left or right,

but instead the other road users get to see a 'Driving/Fog' light comes on to one side or another as they turn the steering wheel one way or another, then slowly fades again.

Can not be a Cornering Fog Light really,

because as we know in the UK Highway Code

'Fog Lights' are for use "where you can not see more than 100 meters'"

"and you must switch off when visibility improves"

& why does someone want one fog light come on automatically in Broad Day light, perfect visibility or just a normal dark night time.?

They have the choice of , Sidelights, Dipped headlights, Full beam headlights & a Rear Fog light (s),

even maybe Front Fog lights for switching on or off in Fog.

The fog light only comes on if the headlights are on and isn't activated by the indicator stalk, it's activated by steering input whether left or right.

Is that also when sidelight are on, or only when sidelights & headlights are on.?

I have no idea as i have not yet seen a Fabia with them activated.

I see them working on other cars when the DRL's are on, that includes other Skodas

(front lights/DRL's , no rear tail lights on, so not Sidelights or Headlights.)

'Anti Hijack door locking'

The auto locking of the doors at 10 km/h should be the default setting when the car is collected from the dealer i beleive.

george

Mine wasn't, just the 2 press all doors unlocked setting, had it changed to 1 press.

The cornering fog lights only work when the headlights are on I believe.

I'll have a word with the technician when my car goes back in next Monday to see what's possible.

1 press lock and unliock. is nothing to do with Autolocking at 10 km/h  EDIT, sorry 15 km/h

From Skoda Owners manual 2010.

"All the doors and the boot lid are locked automatically once the car reaches the speed of about 15 km/h

If the ignition key is withdrawn, the car is then automatically unlocked again, .....etc......................."

PS EDIT,

Sorry, My Bad,

i see the bottom bit now.

" If you wish, you can have a specialist garage activate the autolocking function."

I have only ever seen it as activated on Fabias, and then gone on and disabled it.

With some cars it is annoying IMO,  it locks as you reverse,

start car, move out of some place in reverse, some cars activate at 6 mph/10 km/h.

then someone goes to get in the car, like a passenger you are picking up and the doors are locked.

george

Auto unlock on key removal isn't always activated. I got them to activate anti-hijack and they did not do the auto unlock.

I got the alarm chirp enabled and also staging, tear drop wipe also activated at the front.

The cornering lights have not seemed to work but I came to the decision I don't like that any way.
