Skoda Wrc Squad - Not Quite Up In Arms...

More injury woe for the Skoda WRC team...

After Auriol's arm injury Toni Gardemeister has now done it as well and hurt his wrist!

From autosport.com:

Gardemeister breaks wrist

Skoda pair both injured but should make Australia

Both Skoda drivers have minor injury questions marks ahead of Rally Australia. Didier Auriol is recovering from an arm operation whilst Toni Gardemeister has now picked up a broken wrist.

Gardemeister fell whilst trying to score a goal in a charity ice-hockey match organised by his co-driver Paavo Lukander. Auriol recently emerged from an operation to try and repair the old shoulder injury that forced him out of the recent 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland.

Gardemeister's wrist is in a cast until next Monday, when he hopes it will be removed and he will be cleared to drive in Australia with a lighter cast or strapping.

I just read the sad WRC-news and feel sorry for Skoda Motorsport Team, but that doesn't matter I'll still be a huge supporter of the Fabia WRC as I used to be when the Octy WRC was out in the fields.

The only question I've got is why doesn't VAG want to inject a serious amount of cash so that Skoda will gain the reputation they deserve?

Maybe it's a matter of time, I don't know...

Cheers,

It seems victory does follow the money... just look at the R8's in Le Mans. 3 championships in a row makes for nice advertisements bringing the buyers into Audi dealers. Almost makes me believe the rumors of VAG attempting to make Audi the sports brand and VW the luxury brand.

Is Ford putting the cash to Peugeot this year? Markko sure looks a lot better in this year's Focus than ever before.

I see Burns is going back to the Scoobs next season..

And Tommi is retiring!

Now if only Colin McRae would stop whining about his team, his equipment, his co-driver, his imperfect hair-do, Jupiter not being alinged with Mars, or whatever else he wants to blame his sorry driving on... [/sarcasm]

Maybe they could get his brother Alistair instead?

Well, he hasn't won a WRC rally yet, so he'd be a perfect third driver.

And if I were Citro
