A FL VRS has caught my eye and I'm in communication with the dealer regarding purchase. The only sticking point for me at the moment is lack of Xenons, can dealers retrofit the factory Xenon kit? How much do they normally do this for? Obviously I'll be wanting them to include it in the purchase price but its nice to know how much it would normally be in case they try anything.

I can say with around 99% certainty they will not offer to fit OEM Xenon's to your car - it is far too much hassle for work on a car that will sell if you decide to walk from it or not.

As for the 1% chance - even if you luck out on that 1%, I can then safely say with 100% certainty it will not be included in the current asking price.

 

If you want Xenon's then walk and find one with them fitted. A lot more FL Octy's were factory fitted with Xenon's than the pre-FL, so there will be the car with the exact spec you want out there.

The headlights, ballasts, ignitors and bulbs alone will be the best part of £1000.

 

Add to that a new bumper, painted, the retractable headlight wash system, larger washer bottle and all the connections and tubing.

 

Then add the self-levelling system which includes sensors on the suspension and the required wiring and coding.

 

Finally add the 2 days labour to fit it and test it all and you are well over £2,000.

 

Far simpler to find one with them already fitted.

 

When searching any vRS with the headlight washers (colour coded caps just below each headlight) will have factory fitted xenon headlights.

for less than 300€ you can get a pair of xenon headlights with bulbs off ebay

Kafatec will sell you the wiring kit + leveling sensores + ECU, then you will need a Kafatec headlight harness plug adapter (plug and play and just this harness + headlights you will have xenon working but without leveling system)

the wiring is the same as a Passat 2008 model.

Right hand drive headlights? I haven't seen any on eBay for a while...

 

The guy is asking the dealer to fit them so they will be using brand new genuine parts.

 

For a DIY then a HID kit can be had for less than £30.
