Hi and Welcome to Briskoda :)

+1.

Dealers usually have a direct link into the credit agencies like Equifax and Experian.

Credit check was done while I was test driving !

Why did they take a Deposit before running a Credit check,  or getting a result on putting one through,

what is it a Deposit on if you do not get the finance, it can not be on a vehicle?

They just did not want you going looking at a better deal elsewhere.

Maybe Filled out an Order Form, but they never ordered you a car before knowing it would be financed !

i guess they are capable of looking at you and making a judgement on whether you're going to pass the relativelyy relaxed checks. By the time you've made idle chatter with a salesperson on the test drive they already know your marital situation and profession and, unless you are a professional liar, the salesman will have a good idea of whether you will pass or not. Based on this, it's perfectly feasible that they would take the order and deposit before doing a credit check.

I ordered a new bmw recently and there was no concern at all about credit checks. Out of curiosity, I did ask what would happen if someone was to fail and their answer was that they refund the deposit no problem. As I said though, they have the measure of you so know it ain't gonna happen!

I have sat in with people with thousands in the bank ready to pay the deposit, and the Monthly Payments.

Employer, proof of income, no risk.

Then, Not on the Electoral Roll long enough, because they work and travel and earn,

No Credit History, & not accepted for Credit.

Loads of Cards & loans, and a little debt is perfectly fine, but judging by looks really does not cut it IME.

Well they are obviously the sort of people you would do a credit check on first anyway aren't they?

How did you validate the fact that people had thousands in the bank but missed where their money came from? Sounds like an odd dealership.

It would be quite simple for most salesmen. They will no how old someone is, what their profession is and how long they have been living in the area, and their experience will give them enough of an understanding of whether there should be any surprises.

Maybe dealers at a certain end of the market get a higher proportion of unreliable applicants so they have to panic about these things.
