Long story short, I think I have finally found the possible cause of the awful tapping-like noise from my 1.4 16v fabia engine.

I've come across a TPI for the engine, explaining how there could be Piston ring damage (piston slap), caused from either manufacturing insertion error of the rings, or incorrect fuel use (I.e: not the high octane stuff).... Even though i use the high octane fuel, its most likely the latter from previous owners.

Anyway, im considering rebuilding the engine, just wondering has anyone had any experience with this issue before?

I meant in regards to this particular TPI...

I know about piston slap, just trying to find out whether others have been aware of this TPI, and in general, wanting to get an estimate on cost of replacing the rings myself. Whether its worth doing or not financially. ..

looking at other threads id be prepared to sell the car lol
