'58 Ford S-Max, Titanium, Diesel, DVD, Leather, FSH

Featured Replies

We bought this car last year for SWMBO as she started work as a childminder however she has only used the car once or twice & now has too many children for the S-Max to cope with therefore there is little point in keeping it.

I pride myself with the condition I keep my cars in but this is a people carrier and as such dows have a few scratches on the rear/front bumper & drivers side wing, there is also a small dent under the drivers door mirror, all done prior to my ownership.

Bad bits,

Being very picky the alloys wheels are not perfect but and with most wheels, would benefit greatly from being refurbished (get rid of the Ford chrome effect) however I have not felt the need todo this.

The engine is very smooth and offers a quiet/refined ride and despite is mediocre 0-62 time the handling is very good and much more balanced than my old PD140 Octavia.

Disc's/pads were replaced prior to my ownership and have plenty of life left in them due to my low annual milage.

Both pairs of wireless headphones work perfectly and have prooved a hit with the kids.

This years MOT gave an advisory, Nearside track rod end ball joint has slight play.  I will have this replaced prior to the sale.

Can be viewed/test driven (proof of insurance required)

Located in Penistone, South Yorkshire (S36)

£8,900

Would consider a Peugeot Expert or Citroen Dispatch in p/x

What do you do for a spare when you haven't got the spare in the boot? Is it a "can of foam" job or is there a 50mph space saver somewhere?

  • Author

When we've used 7 seats we've still managed to keep the spare in the boot (although depending on luggage requirements this might not be an option for everyone), other than that its a can of foam (not supplied)

6 seats can be used while the spare wheel is in its current location.

ah, in that case I think we'll have to discount the S Max....

Thats no problem.  Like I said, the spare wheel situation wont suit everyone.

Happy Hunting :)

Hi Matt,

Been thinking about a larger family car instead of the Octavia estate.

Is the S-Max the same size as a Galaxy?

What is the Conventional Instruments - Level 3? Is it like maxidot?

Having had both the Octy and the S-Max how do they compare? What's the main differences good and bad from your perspective? Also which did the wife prefer? (this is maybe the most important question as it wont be my daily driver but the wifes lol).

7 Seats would come in handy when the in laws are visiting (next visit is Feb). Also having one child still in the full seat for a while longer yet its pretty difficult to get someone sat in the middle of the back seats which means the Octy is only really a 4 seater or a very uncomfortable 5 seater.

PM me if you prefer.

Since getting some interest in the car (I've had 3 enquiries this year) I went out yesterday looking at my shortlist & to be honest I was bitterly dis-appointed and as such have decided to keep the S-Max.  I can't find anything that I would be happy to change the S-Max for.

1year on and a change in career means I need a van.

Since I originally advertised this it has had x1 Ball joint, Eibach springs fitted & a full geo alignment.

Also, the original 17" wheels have Vredestein Winter tyres (will need changing this year, all around 3-4mm)

& there is now a set of 18" wheels with x2 Kumho ku31's (around 4mm, x1 tyre has an advisory for sidewall cracking) & x2 Kumho kh31's (6-7mm).

Price £7000

Matt,

Sent you a PM :-)
