Fabia Oil Breather - Advice Buying New Fabia

Featured Replies

Hello,

Hopefully I can get some advice on here, I have recently put a deposit on a Fabia VRS after test driving it then started looking on here (didn't come on for a while as I sold MK1 Octy VRS).

Now I have seen this terrible issue with oil ussage and the Fabia. The one I have put a deposit on has full service history and 22,000 miles on a 60 Plate. I called Skoda and it has had the breather done already and the warranty is up in January.

Can anyone offer any help and advice as I don't really know this engine at all.

Chris

If its already had breather and using over 1L every 620 miles then get an oil consumption test done and if it fails that could be new engine as the engine you have is the first type (CAVE)

Get your deposit back ASAP if I were you mate. The fact it has been in for the breather mod already suggests it has a problem. The breather mod has failed to cure the issue on most cars, on here at least. That combined with the imminently expiring warranty is not good news. Sack the car off and get something else.

Are you buying from a Skoda Dealership and its an Approved Used Car, with the 12 month Warranty you get with them.?

If not,

then you would have to be putting an 'Extended Skoda Used Warranty' on @ £399 for 1 year & £547 for 2 years.

Maybe just get your deposit back and give it a miss.

The Full Service history can not be much.

A Minor Service at 1 year/9400 miles, and Inspection Service @ 2 years 19000 miles.

Have they done a 3rd Year Minor service & Brake Fluid Change? Or doing it before Collection.

If not,

thats coming up along with the MOT.

so About. £129, £45 & a £39 MOT.

It isn't from Skoda but I did rang and ask for a cost on the warranty when I asked about warranty work that has been carried out and the chap offered me it at that price, would this extended warranty still cover for the oil issue with these engines then?

Yes that is a proper Warranty on the Drive Train, there are exclusions but not engine and gearbox.

One Problem, a big one.

A new member here bought a used vRS, recently.

He has bought a bad one.

Skoda have knocked him back on Warranty because the say the car has been Re-Mapped.

So now all buyers need to be aware of this.

It might be the rest of a Original Warranty that someone gets when buying a used car,

or an Extended one they knock back.

I can not see that they could if Someone Buys a 'Skoda Approved Used Car.'

Their checks should include checking the ECU for Re-maps, and putting settings back to Factory Setting on

Steering, Brake Assistance & XDS.

Best Avoid really.
