spacer questions

Featured Replies

What does having spacers on your wheels actually do? Is it just for looks or does the wider track help handling at all? The track on an estate is narrower at the back then the front will putting spacers on the back make a noticeable difference in looks? Before and after pics of anyone who has done it would be great

Probably makes handling worse. I may be wrong but I think they are mainly cosmetic.

Cosmetic. Only really want to use them if you've lowered your car and want to make the wheels sit more flush instead of having massive tuck.

So no benefit at all too handling?

Nope.

Have 16mm on the rear of mine

They look well.

Handling defunately not compromised in conjunction with sports springs and Hunter alignment. I would think even on stock springs it would not make handling worse.

Stock springs on mine and definitely not any worse.

Its not going to make a blind bit of difference to handling unless you go bonkers and fit something thats going to increase the track by 60mm+ and even then it'll be a very slight difference.

Probably makes handling worse.

why would you say it would make the handling worse? generally a wider track would be a benefit surely when cornering?

I did say i may be wrong....

Yeah that's what I thought rob

Spacers will increase the load on the wheel bearings. The farther away the wheel from the design mounting point, the higher the leverage load on the bearings.

so is that 8mm per corner on rear or 16mm per corner on rear .. sorry for me being a retard lol

16mm per side bud. ;)
